Week #9, 01 – 07 March 2021

On Monday this week, I started the Astrophysics topic in Physics (the final topic in the syllabus, but I haven’t done all the ones leading up to that yet), in preparation for a space-themed Outreach session tomorrow. I’m nearly finished already! I also did loads of yoga/weightlifting with Tilly in the evening, and did lots of reading (I’m currently reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini). Tilly and I have nearly finished a horror/documentary series on Netflix about the disappearance of Elisa Lam in the Cecil Hotel. It’s really exciting and scary!

The next day, I completely finished the Astrophysics topic and had my Outreach session with Dave. This lesson was mind-boggling but super duper fun, and we were looking at more A-Level Astrophysics than GSCE, which is pretty cool! I also did my analysis of the Odyssey all afternoon and added some film reviews on this blog, which you can find under the Films & TV tab in the main menu.

On Wednesday, I watched some YouTube videos on stellar evolution and the Big Bang, two topics I covered the day before in Astronomy. Then I did some more problems leading to simultaneous equations in my maths (the Victorian questions are so funny!) and I so nearly finished my Odyssey analysis (there are a couple of Massolit courses I want to make notes on before it’s completely done).

On Thursday, Tilly and I got the results for our Latin GCSEs… we both got A*s! I got 95% correct and Tilly got 91% (hers was harder though. To get an A*, you had to get 75%. I couldn’t be more pleased with my results!). I started a new Massolit course, the last remaining one on Homer, by an OU professor called Elton Barker. His course focused on the cultural aspect of the Iliad and the Odyssey, which was really helpful as the other courses were just talking about the poem content.

The next day, we got out our Greek books again! It’s been so long since I did any Ancient Greek, and it was fun teaching Tilly everything I know, as she’s never done any before. She learnt (and for the most part, I relearnt 😅) the Greek alphabet and some verbs and

Over the weekend, William and I started a new Netflix series called Unsolved Mysteries, and Andy and I have been watching a lot of X-Files episodes! I also made some delicious brownies and for dinner tonight I’m going to make a chickpea curry! We’ve been thinking of adding a Cookery tab to this blog, so hopefully you can all see some of my (usually unsuccessful) creations 🙂
